I decided to use my images from my train journey for my final ten images, so to link that to my installation piece i created a train track to put the images along

John's work is really inspirational, he paints in such a way that it makes the painting leap off the page, his brush stokes show lots of energy and has a deep intensity thats its not so much your seeing it but experiencing it.
Here is a picture I took of Lancaster when trying to explore the landscapes to see the differences in architecture between the city and darlington also to see the differences in lifestyles.

These are my friends at home that I feel like I don't see anymore since going to University
I started finding photos of my friends at home and my friends at university to show the two different lives I feel I lead.

Barbara Brody

Her work is so colourful you can't help but be drawn into it. I love that she doesn't just do a plain landscape but changes it to get a different effect from it, the colours just bring out emotions. It's like theres a story to it which you make up for yourself, it's called A Very Good Time.

Bob Barker

I found some really nice images done by Bob Barker, to me they just show so much emotion, it's because of the colours he uses deep reds. Something I took into account when showing my journey was what colours would most portray my emotions. This image is called after the day is done.

Sketches

Here are some sketches I did of Lancaster

An Image from my Journey

This is an image from the train Carlisle to Lancaster you get the best views on that train because of going through the Lake District

Landscape

With taking pictures of landscapes as I go past them on the train I also thought it would be good to involve landscapes of the actual places. I began looking into artists landscapes and how they are presented.

But I thought if I did a big landscape I needed to capture my emotions more or the sense of moving.

Train Journey

I found this video on youtube of a train journey, which is my source of travelling. I took pictures of my journey, which includes going from lancaster to carlisle then to newcastle then darlington. I think this video is a good example of capturing the sense of a journey.

My Journey between Lancaster and Darlington

Since I started university I feel like I lead two different lives, one in Darlington and one in Lancaster. They're so different as well, my lifestyle, the people, the environment just everything in general. It was such a change from living at home under my parents rules to all of a sudden living on my own and having to fend for myself. You also wouldn't think that moving from the north east to the north west would be that much different but I think peoples attitudes are completely different here. Lancaster is very scenic as well which is a change from Darlington because there's not much there to be honest. When I moved I think one thing I was worried about which I think everyone worried about was making friends, moving into halls made that easy because your all in the same boat and are just kind of pushed together. Another thing I worried about was my relationship, how the distance would effect us thankfully we're still going, he's my link to home when he comes visit me. In this project I looked into the landscapes and people from both places I also tried to represent my journey from place to place and my emotions involved when I get on and off that train.
